The Subconscious Art of Graffiti Removal

Somehow I just found this flickr pool (thanks to this post on seesaw design factories blog) and it reminded me of a conversation I had with KR way back in SF. He had been working on solvents that removed the buff people put on his tags and throw-ups. So once a tag got buffed, he’d go back and remove the buff and he talked about it as an archival technique. It seemed important for future archeologists to be able to remove the layers of bucket paint from the important tags and pieces that lay below without damaging the original art.
